be a little cooler. 50 in downtown 49 and san jose, 47 in livermore, 51 air richmond, 49 and napa. a 47 in concord and oakland you should talk about at the door 50s. a bright and sunny day with temperatures definitely on the cooler side. if your kron 47 day around the bay forecast, temperatures will be milder friday on friday, the rain will come through any of fast-moving system starting in the north bay and then heading south. we also see a mix of some snow and some rain especially coming late friday into early saturday morning for some of the hill locations. the best chance would be towards the fixer and those locations up towards the coast. the fast- moving system will return to sunshine and dry conditions by saturday afternoon and sunday and then we will finally be milder come tuesday in to next wednesday and again, this morning, much colder than yesterday to you definitely want to start the car early in defrost off your windshield. the time now is 403 let's go to james. warming shelters have been set up in the south bay because of the unseasonal cold weather. three shelters in san

tonight for the overnight lows again. 27 at livermore and 24 degrees at fairfield and 24 at napa. it is cold out there for them and from 1 to 8 degrees cooler right now than what it was last night and tonight, we should bottom out for them and that they should not be that bad and to help the temperatures drop just a bit for them in santa rosa and in napa to get them down for the clear skies. but by 8:00, they were down to the lower 40s. and for tomorrow, they will need to recover to the near 50- degree range. and so in the daytime, we're bumping up the numbers for them. like they need to go out and that it will not be as cold as it was today. but that's what's happening for them and the low pressure over california that is moving into the texas panhandle region and the jet stream that divides the cold air from the north to the relatively warm air to the south, allowing all the arctic air up here to plunge all the way down to mexico. as a result, the cold air, they will need to help us with pretty cold tonight. but that's my question to begin to move in for the second half of the

22 from pleasant hills. there you go, there will be records, almost all were sit at 72 and napa is 23 right now, yesterday they had a breeze and that held up their temperatures and san francisco, our observer had 29 degrees. that would tie a record low. the record is 35. that is pretty cool. he has 19 degrees here and san jose will tie a record going back to 1972. novato 22, napa 23, half-moon bay and there are some areas on the coast and we are very close to it. that is the open airport. airfield, -- fairfield they had a breeze towards parts of fairfield oakly and i it goes until 9:00 and visibility is sparkling. 19 in ike ukiah, that cold air has plenty of time to settle in and that system will move in friday night saturday giving us a quick shot of rain and some upper 40s for highs today, pablos are already there. the highs on clear lake, 48 kent field, and oakly will be in there, danville, walnut creek, 52 alameda and that will be the hot spot. even morgan -- morgan hill, starting off about many inland locations. it clouded up friday afternoon and evening and then back to cold ag

. our coldest location came in an hour ago, petaluma at 16. even napa got down to 26 degrees. a lot of this cold air is across most of the bay area. i wanted to point out the north bay, most of 101 right now is dealing with some patchy black ice. so you do want to make sure you are taking it easy on the roads this morning. it's still below freezing from napa to novato. as we widen out, you can see still below freezing in places like livermore where they're at 31. even concord the 32. san jose 32 right now and sunnyvale 29 cold degrees. we are cold, and even dangerously cold. this is the kind of weather you have to take it easy in and take it cautiously on those roadways. waking up to some beautiful sunrises this morning across the peninsula, the east bay, even san francisco. our camera guy back there adjusting some of those shots. you can see if you look at the peninsula, just an awesome shot. just a few high thin clouds. by the afternoon hours, we'll get rid of the clouds but we're not going to get rid of the cold. we only top out in the mid to upper 40s across the entire bay today

but into the teens across parts of the napa valley. that's where we're headed. overnight lows, nap that 19, even san jose expected to get down to 22 degrees. even though we got down to 29. it hasn't been this cold since january 13 earlier this year. when we got down to 26 degrees. so again tonight, expecting to be one of the coldest nights. and here's the other thing. this is the eighth consecutive morning that we're going to be waking up with temperatures below 32 degrees. in napa. and the last time we saw something like this, a long-term cold snap, that was back january 10 where we were below freezing for our morning lows for 12 days in a row. 4 we all know the cold is tack a toll on your body. the california crops are starting to take their toll. monty, how cold is it where you are? >> it's pretty gold. in fact, this is the man made snow from the ice skating rink across the street. i've had it since about 6:00 tonight. you can see that it hasn't really melted at all. right now, it is a very chilly 33 dpst mere at walnut creek right now. the pitter cold is not keeping everyone indoors. the bitter

overnight low temperatures. current numbers 49 right now in napa. the north bay will see temperatures tomorrow morning just before sun rise that will be down into the upper 20s and low 30s. frost in lots of plaices. below freezing temperatures in lots of places tonight, especially in the north bay. yesterday's temperatures and today's temperatures, that front went through. separates the warm air from the cold air. now we are in the old air sector of that front. just happens to be very cold. kind of continental cold air that's going to settle in. stick around for awhile. it will drop temperatures in the north bay to the freeze warning level in the north bay. for the rest of the bay area, excluding san francisco, as we go into wednesday night and thursday morning. so, a very cool period coming up. it's not going to warm up any time soon. overnight lows for tomorrow morning. 28 in santa rosa. 29 in fairfield. these numbers could dip even further out in the valley. upper 20s, low 30s. oakland 39 degrees. not 28, but 39 degrees in an urban area is a big deal. you have lots of issues when

of the rainfall totals over the last 24 hours. .47 in napa. .4 in santa rosa. almost .3 for oakland, san francisco picking up almost .4. san jose picking up .13. we have seen snowfall in areas right around the santa cruz mountains, right over the summit, mount st. helena has reported a little snow. northern areas of napa county reported some snow yesterday. a few sprinkles that may or may not be hitting the ground at this point. it's sort of fascinating when we get that snow in our local hills. i'm seeing a little here remaining. that moisture over mount diablo. the altamont pass area stretching across 580. this is just the very tail end. we're going to see this actually continue to move to the south. if you are going to tahoe this weekend, still snow with an advisory over tahoe until 10:00 a.m. for the west slope droiring up to tahoe it's until 4:00 p.m. today. we have snow levels to pollock pines and in and around areas from truckee into blue canyon. snow level still fairly low, 3500 feet-4500 feet out there this morning. the winds are picking up. 8 miles per hour in nap awrks 9 in fairfield, 6
